Birdwatching!

South-central Italy’s largest lake is lake Trasimeno, set in an amazing landscape of hills and medieval villages. The lake hosts an extraordinary concentration of birds at all seasons; among the most interesting species are Common Goldeneye, Great Bittern, Purple and Squacco Herons, and Arctic Loon.
In the very heart of Italy,

During the year here are at least 201 different species of birds. In winter we can find birds coming form North-East Europe : 50.000 Coots, 5.000 Mallards, 3.000 Pochards, 1.600 Teals, 1.000 Great crested grebes, 300  Ferrugineus ducks. In Spring here come the birds from Africa: Reed warblers, Great reed warblers, Purple herons, Squacco herons, Night herons, Cattle egrets, Little bitterns. In Autumn the lake is full of Starlings and Swallows, ready to fly away...and more: the Osprey and the White stork.

For birdwatchers, at 2 hours from Casale La Liccia, towards the town of Foligno and the Marche Region, there is the Monti Sibillini National Park in an impressive mountain chain, the kingdom of the mythical Sibyl. Nature, history, and culture have created a unique landscape here, a very special place to observe Alpine Chough, Short-toed Treecreeper, Western Bonelli’s Warbler, Alpine Accentor, and Snow Finch.
