Past the short white road (300 mt) lies the hamlet of Piana, and at 15 minutes walk or by bike (or 3 mins. drive!) you can find Ezia's shop where to buy all you need from A-pples to... Z-ippo lighters!
Many nice walks and bike or horse trails start from the Liccia house in green surroundings.
In Castiglione del Lago, tennis and water sports as well as fishing and horse riding, ten minutes from here.
On Lake Trasimeno you can also make ferry trips to Isola Maggiore and its old fishing village.
Isola Polvese (Polvese Island) is very interesting as a birdwatching site, and for its woods and beaches. Ferries to the islands leave from Castiglione, Tuoro-sul-Trasimeno and Passignano.
Thermal spas at Chianciano Terme and Montepulciano at about 40 minutes. Cortona is at 15 minutes drive, Perugia and Siena at 45 minutes.
Very easy rail access to Florence (1,5 hour) and Rome (2 hours).
Fishing - Museum of Fishing Activities on Lake Trasimeno
Dedicated to fishing techniques from prehistory to present-day
The 'Museo della Pesca sul Lago Trasimeno', is located along the main road crossing San Feliciano, a characteristic hamlet right on the lake’s shore. The origin and evolution of Lake Trasimeno, which came into existence one million, seven hundred thousand years ago when, as a consequence of tectonic motions, a depression in the soil that collected the water was created, is illustrated. The Museum display is arranged into four large rooms—Dawn, Noon, Afternoon and Evening—dedicated to fishing techniques from prehistory to present-day. Then there is the display of fishing instruments in a multimedia room shaped like a large boat, and two aquariums documenting the ichthyic Fauna populating the lake today.
Cycle paths and walks around lake Trasimeno
The route around the lake is very beautiful, about 15 km however, must be done on a paved road - the path is missing in some sections.
On a mountain bike along the lakeshore and over the hills, 16 loop excursions are sign-posted with red/white markings at crossroads.

As Umbria is land-locked, sailing is done on Lake Trasimeno. There are numerous moorings on the lake shore

Along the lake as well as on the Polvese Island you can find beaches with a lot of amenities such as pedal boats, sunbeds and sun umbrellas, showers and a snack bar. Our suggestion in Castiglione del lago is:
